HARRIS, Glen Eric

Mr. Glen Eric Harris (CFP, CLU, CH.F.C.), age 53 of Grenville Ave. Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday June 6th, 2007.

Glen was born and raised in Dorion, youngest son of Arthur and Margaret Harris. After graduating from NipRock High School, Glen worked for Great West Timber (Camp 5), and Great Lakes Paper (Camps 234, 517, and 45). After a life changing experience, Glen went to work for Sunlife Financial. He then helped establish, along with his partners, Normaxx Financial Group, of which he was the president. In this line of work, Glen was well known for his very personal and passionate approach to helping families achieve financial stability.

Glen had a flare for sharing his expertise and good humour at professional seminars with his peers, and in slide presentations, and motivational speeches to young audiences. Glen was a member of the Masons, and a long time member of the Rotary Club of Thunder Bay (Port Arthur).

Glen cared about people and he celebrated family and community in the life he led. He would always lend a helping hand, and was known for his tireless devotion to volunteer work. He was actively involved in fundraising for numerous community projects in the region.

Music was a very important part of his life. Family and friends remember his love of entertaining, whether it be family sing-a-longs, playing the organ at hockey games or weddings, and with the Dorion Band.

Glen loved to travel with his family, play golf and hockey, and would dabble in the occasional game of chance at the casino. Glen was known for his rapid speech delivery as he was excited about his work and life in general.

Glen is survived by his loving wife Debbie of 30 years, son Taylor, daughter Madison at home, and grandson Austin; mother Margaret, sister Betty (Ed) Chambers, brother Keith (Susan), and sister-in-law Lee, all of Dorion; brothers Scott (Helen), Allan (Yvonne), Donny (Margit), brother-in-law Rick (Doreen) White, all of Thunder Bay; father-in-law Mel Cates, sisters-in-law Penny (Orest), Melanie (Dave), Karen (Jerry) Renaud, and brother-in-law Bart (Lisa).
